How do I begin services?

Prior to the start of services, you will first need to check availability of the counselor. When applicable, obtain a court Appointment Order, submit payment(s), and all applicable required paperwork.

All intake paperwork to begin services can be located here. Appointments are not secured/scheduled until after payment is received. Payments may be made online at: www.texaspcs.org and click on the “PAY NOW” button to make a payment, or send a check or money order to:

Do you accept insurance?

We do not currently accept and/or file with any insurance providers. In addition, as we do not accept insurance or Medicaid, we are considered Out-of-Network for most insurance purposes. Most insurance companies provide some mental health benefits for their subscribers.

Please note that it is your responsibility to contact your Provider to verify your benefits, as well as to determine what documentation they might need for you to provide in order to receive reimbursement.

What is HIPAA?

HIPAA is the acronym for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act that was passed by Congress in 1996. HIPAA does the following:

Provides the ability to transfer and continue health insurance coverage for millions of American workers and their families when they change or lose their jobs;
Reduces health care fraud and abuse;
Mandates industry-wide standards for health care information on electronic billing and other processes; and
Requires the protection and confidential handling of protected health information

Is there a fee associated with obtaining my mental-health records?

Yes, the Texas Health and Safety Code, Chapter 611 allows the provider to provide a labor fee for records. Additionally, The Privacy Rule permits a covered entity to impose a reasonable, cost-based fee if the individual requests a copy of the Private Health Information. The fee may consist of (1) a labor for copying the PHI requested by the individual, whether in paper or electronic form; (2) supplies for creating the paper copy or electronic media (e.g., CD or USB drive) if the individual requests that the electronic copy be provided on portable media; (3) postage, when the individual requests that the copy, or the summary or explanation, be mailed; and (4) preparation of an explanation or summary of the PHI, if agreed to by the individual.

How to get the most out of your counseling experience?

Define Your Goals. Think about what you would like to get out of counseling. It might be helpful to write a list of events, relationship issues, and/or feelings that you think are contributing to your distress. Take time before each session to consider your expectations for that session. Self-exploration and change involve hard work, and sometimes painful feelings are stirred up in the process of healing. Our counselors are trained to pay close attention to these issues and will probably encourage you to discuss these feelings openly.
Be an Active Participant. This is your counseling experience, so be as active as you can in deciding how to use the time. Be honest with your counselor, and give her or him feedback about how you see the sessions progressing. Be patient with yourself. Growth takes time, effort, and patience. All of your coping skills, behavior patterns, and self-perceptions have been learned and reinforced over a long period of time, so change can be difficult and slow at times.
Ask Questions. Ask questions about the counseling process, any methods used by your counselor, or about any other services provided by Texas PCS. Your counselor is here to help you.
Follow Your Counselor's Recommendations. Take the time between sessions to complete any activities suggested by your counselor. Counseling is intended to improve your life in the "real world," so making efforts to try out and practice new behaviors, approaches, and/or ways of thinking could be a crucial element to the success of your counseling experience.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes. Please call our main number (972) 895-2502 and/or email admin@TexasPCS.org.

What if I have to cancel my appointment?

To cancel an appointment, please call (972) 895-2502 as soon as possible after you become aware that you are unable to attend your appointment. Please note that you must provide a 72 hour cancellation notice, in order to not be charged your full session rate.

Does Texas PCS offer evening or weekend appointments?

Yes, we offer limited evening appointments. Please check for availability. We offer Saturday appointments upon request.

Parenting

What is a Parenting Facilitator?

A Parenting Facilitator helps parents to establish and maintain a co-parenting relationship. The main focus of Parenting Facilitation is to reduce parental conflict and keep children out of the middle. Parenting Facilitation is not confidential.

Do you conduct Child Custody Evaluations?

Yes. Dr. Monika Logan conducts Custody Evaluations. Please remember to have your attorney contact Texas Premier Counseling Services prior to naming Dr. Logan in an order to insure availability.

Do You Offer Reunification and Family Therapy?

Yes; however, typically these services require the use of Dr. Logan’s court Appointment Order relative to each service.
