Faith-Based Counseling

Faith-Based Counseling Services

We live in an everchanging world in which change is believed to be the only familiar constant.  Change, of course, can move in a welcomed positive direction, such as when one receives a promotion at work but change can also result from tragedy, loss, and/or unwelcomed life events.  Therefore, when life’s storms do come, we need to be anchored.

At Texas Premier Counseling Services, we provide a faith-based perspective for those who want and are seeking help and comfort from a biblical perspective/worldview.  However, some may question, what is “faith” and its impact?  Simply stated, “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” (Hebrews 11:1 NLT).  As humans, we desire continuity, consistency, and stability accompanied by growth, improvement, and prosperity.  Faith is often in opposition to what we see, as it extends beyond our physical senses and reasoning. Thus, human reasoning can be an adversary of our faith.

Our quest to achieve peace and understanding of human problems and circumstance is often initially approached in and by the pursuit of knowledge.  As humans, we strive to advance and improve in accordance with our own nature.  As such, sometimes people feel “stuck” or even emotionally paralyzed from the storms of life.  Nevertheless, many have discovered that the answers they are seeking cannot be found in the often-esteemed esoteric and ever-changing knowledge of human discovery but rather exists in the foundational truths of wisdom outlined in divine biblical principles and doctrine.

What to Expect

Some may inquire if a faith-based approach is a good “fit” for them.  To better aid in answering such question, one can consider that in 1967 Paul Gordon posed one of the most popular therapeutic questions about interventions:

What treatment, by whom, is most effective for this individual with that specific problem, and under which set of circumstances?”

Therefore, only you know if a faith-based approach is right for you, as we neither force nor admonish a faith-based approach.  However, we are happy to assist as an emotional archeologist and to serve as a temporary guide – “Though good advice lies deep within the heart, a person with understanding will draw it out.” (Proverbs 20:5 NLT).

Flourish, Focus, & Freedom

What you conceal, cannot be healed; therefore, take comfort in knowing that truth is a liberating agent.
